Update: 29-year-old victim identified after a shooting death in S. Wichita

Wichita Police have investigated the shooting death of 29-year-old Deontre Lawrence and four other shooting victims in the 4800 block of S. Gordon, to the west of 47th South & Meridian.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting; while en route, officers encountered another shooting victim in a vehicle at the intersection of 47th South & Seneca.

It was later discovered this incident was connected to the shooting on S. Gordon; all four injured victims were hospitalized and are expected to survive their injuries.

Authorities are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. There is no ongoing threat to the community, as the parties involved are known to each other.

The details of this case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
