    Campers overturned, power out as severe storms move through Kansas early Tuesday

    WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Severe thunderstorms moved through northern Kansas early Tuesday morning. The storms produced multiple severe thunderstorm warnings and had wind gusts recorded from 60 to 90 mph.

    The KSN Storm Track 3 Weather Team has been busy tracking the severe weather reports.

    Here is the list compiled:

    • 1 W Toulon – Ellis County – 66 mph gust
    • 1 E Yocemento – Ellis County – 64 mph gust
    • 1 W Toulon – Ellis County – 69 mph gust
    • Walker- Ellis County – 60 mph gust
    • 4 W Russell – Russell County – 62 mph gust
    • 5 NNE Gorham – Russell County – 65 mph gust
    • Russell Airport – Russell County – 85 mph gust
    • 3 NNE Bunker Hill – Russell County – 93 mph gust
    • 7 SW Sylvan Grove – Russell County – 67 mph gust
    • Lincoln – Lincoln County – 80 mph gust
    • 2 SW Salina – Saline County – 58 mph gust
    • 5 NNW New Cambria – Saline County – 79 mph gust
    • Russell – Russell County – Power lines down, and power poles snapped
    • 8 SW Sylvan Grove – Russell County – Two campers rolled over
    • 6 SW Sylvan Grove – Russell County – Power poles snapped

    Monica Smith emailed KSN News this morning to share photos of storm damage at Wilson Lake. Her pictures showed an overturned camper and a large tree limb down.

    “We actually had two campers that got rolled over out at Lake Wilson. Nobody was injured, and nobody was in the campers, thank goodness. Several power poles throughout the county broke off, causing us problems with road blockages and other things like that,” Russell County Sheriff Andy VanDerWege said.

    Further west in Hays, the storm produced high wind, which knocked down branches and cut power to nearly 800 early Tuesday. Midwest Energy reports that 168 are still without power as of 10:30 a.m.

    Temperatures take a dip, storm chances through mid-week

    Elsewhere, storms spawning multiple tornado reports blew through Iowa, Illinois — including Chicago — and Indiana on Monday , downing trees and power poles and cutting power to more than 460,000 customers and businesses.
