It’s the last weekend of July, which means summer is starting to wind down. It also means that garden tomatoes are finally ripe, a fact that will be celebrated on Saturday at the annual Tomato Fest at the Kansas Grown Farmers Market — always one of the market’s most popular installations.

Tomato Fest
7 a.m.-noon, Sedgwick County Extension Center, 7001 W. 21st St.
The annual Tomato Fest, a yearly tradition at the Kansas Grown Farmers Market at 21st and Ridge, is set for Saturday and will last from 7 a.m. to noon at the Sedgwick County Extension Center, the market’s weekly home base. It will include food trucks, fresh fried green tomatoes, a photo booth, face painting, a chef demo, a sampling booth and a tomato contest that will give ribbons for the largest, ugliest and prettiest tomatoes. Admission to the market is free.
Kansas Literacy Festival
10 a.m.-noon, Bradley Fair, 2000 N. Rock Road
The Kansas Literacy Festival, which is put on by Storytime Village, happens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bradley Fair. It’s open to all ages, and visitors will be able to meet local and national authors, join in a dance party, listen to storytellers read their books, get their faces painted and take part in a poetry workshop. Admission is free.
Bridal Expo
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Century II Expo Hall, 225 W. Douglas
The Wichita Bridal Expo, which gives future brides and grooms a chance to shop for vendors for their weddings, returns on Saturday and Sunday to Century II’s Expo Hall. The event is expected to draw more than 200 vendors offering information about decor, venues, photographers, DJs and more. Vendors also will be offering tastings, and the event will include live wedding fashion shows. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $14 for a single-day pass or $17 for a weekend pass at selectaseat.com or at the door.
Alternative and Holistic Fair
Friday-Sunday, Holiday Inn Wichita East, 549 S. Rock Road
The Holiday Inn Wichita East will be the site this weekend of an Alternative and Holistic Fair, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 on Friday and $5 on both Saturday and Sunday. Those who attend will be able to hear lecturers speak on topics like mindfulness meditation, breath work and more. Young Elvis
8 p.m. Friday, The Cotillion, 11125 W. Kellogg
Elvis impersonator Trent Smith will bring the legendary singer back to life at a tribute concert on Friday at the Cotillion. But Smith’s Elvis is the young version — the one crowds would have enjoyed in the 1950s and early 1960s. His show, titled “Young Elvis Tribute,” happens at 8 p.m., and the doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 to $40 at www.thecotillion.com , and the show is open to all ages. All seating is reserved.
Join the Bazaar-nival
6-10 p.m. Friday, Revolutsia, 2721 E. Central
A group called ICT Bazaars is putting on a Final Friday event called “The Bazaar-nival 2024.” It happens from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Revolutsia shipping container mall and will include carnival-themed backgrounds perfect for photo ops, a DJ, food and drink from Revolutsia businesses like Prost and Good Company, a market featuring 15 local vendors, and classic carnival games. Admission is free.
