A 35-year-old homeless man was arrested after members of a Mississippi church arrived to find grafitti covering the walls of the church and evidence that someone tried to set the building on fire.

Stefan Rowald, was arrested on Monday following the vandalism of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hall Street in Wiggins.

Rowald faces charges including two counts of burglary, two counts of arson, and one count of felony malicious mischief.

The incident was discovered by church members who arrived for morning services on Sunday. They found graffiti covering the walls throughout the building and evidence of an attempted arson, according to Wiggins Police Chief Jeff Thomas.

The investigation is ongoing, with the Wiggins Police Department receiving assistance from the State Fire Marshall Office. The ATF, MBI, and FBI have also been contacted to aid in the investigation.
