Boone man injured in Sunday evening motorcycle accident southwest of Webster City.
A Boone motorcyclist was injured early last Sunday evening in an accident southwest of Webster City at Stagecoach Road and 270th Street. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department reported a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Zachary Hammond of Boone was traveling southbound on Stagecoach Road when it entered a portion of the road curving left and then he lost control of the motorcycle. The Hammond motorcycle entered the ditch on the west side of the road where it came to rest. The accident report stated that the Hammond motorcycle had been traveling approximately 50 miles per hour around the curve when he hit a patch of loose gravel on the road and lost control of the motorcycle. Hammond was transported to the Van Diest Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of neck and shoulder pain. Hammond was wearing his helmet at the time of the accident. Investigating deputy Alex Sharp estimated the damage to the Hammond motorcycle at $5000.

Talus Renewables plans to build nearly 80 modular "green" ammonia plants in Iowa and other Midwestern states over the next two years. The green ammonia, produced with water, air and renewable energy, will be used to make nitrogen fertilizer needed by farmers to help grow crops that feed people and livestock.

How much rain caused flooding in central Iowa Tuesday night
DES MOINES, Iowa – Several inches of rain fell across parts of Iowa Tuesday, causing flooding in locations like Pella, Indianola, and in parts of Mahaska County. Automated weather stations in Knoxville and Centerville picked up over 2″ of rain. Oskaloosa received just under an inch, and Hampton, Marshalltown, Ankeny, Algona, and Creston all saw over half an inch of rainfall.
Iowa Traffic Fatality County Down 16 Percent from Same Time One Year Ago
(Des Moines) According to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Iowa Traffic Fatality Count, there were 27 fewer traffic fatalities on Iowa’s roadways than one year ago. As of July 1, 135 people have died on Iowa’s roadways compared to 162 one year ago. This is eight lower than in 2022 and nine lower than in 2021.
