Utility and Light Poles Were Damaged in Storm Lake Accident Late Last Week
An accident that involved multiple vehicles caused significant damage and disruption on Friday afternoon in Storm Lake. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, several utility and light poles were struck and severed, which led to power outages across many neighborhoods. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and Storm Lake Fire Department assisted in redirecting traffic and blocking streets where power lines were down. The Storm Lake Public Works Department installed four-way stop signs at intersections that lost traffic signals. MidAmerican Energy worked late into the evening on Friday replacing power poles and utility lines.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Gunshots in an Iowa mall sent people running Monday and one person was injured and expected to survive, police and witnesses say. Davenport Police posted a statement on Facebook that the wounded person had non-life-threatening injuries following the shooting inside NorthPark Mall in Davenport, an east-central Iowa city near the line with Illinois.

Rock Rapids Residents Continue To Deal With Flooding Aftermath
Rock Rapids, Iowa — For the second time in about ten years, Rock Rapids residents are having to deal with the aftermath of major flooding. While the damage is much less than in the community of Rock Valley, about 20 miles downstream, the flooding in Rock Rapids was a record, and damaged a large number of homes, according to Mayor Jason Chase.
