CHARLESTON, S.C. — (AP) — Tropical Storm Debby pushed bad weather up the East Coast on Wednesday, colliding with other systems and bringing no respite to residents as far away as the Great Lakes and New Jersey, where heavy rain flooded highways and streets and stranded motorists. EDISTO BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) — For residents on Edisto Island, the worst of Tropical Storm Debby whipped through with a fierce howl. Pete Carter who lives on the island said, “We heard a rumble, transformers started popping, trees started going down and it only lasted a few seconds, but it must have come right through here.”
