Williamsport, Pa. — A woman had scratches and red marks on her neck after she was strangled during a fight, police say.

According to Officer Andrew Stevens, the victim said Nakir Cornelius Chambers of Williamsport was the person responsible for the assault. Chambers allegedly went to the home on June 13 at 9 p.m. to speak with the accuser.

Under the impression Chambers wanted to rekindle their relationship, the victim was caught off guard after he accused her of having a relationship with her child's father, according to the complaint.

Chambers allegedly took the victim’s phone and called the man who was causing the jealous fit. After hanging up, Chambers strangled the victim while she was holding a 1-year-old child, according to Stevens. Chambers left with the phone after the assault, Stevens added.

Chambers is being charged with strangulation and theft by unlawful taking. He is being held on $20,000 monetary bail awaiting a preliminary hearing at the beginning of July.
