Williamsport, Pa. — Striking a balance between foundational business administration courses and theatre, Lycoming County has launched a new performing arts management major.

This new addition is ideal for students who are passionate about the arts, but are interested in working beyond the stage.

In addition to theatre and performing arts coursework, students will take comprehensive business, corporate communications, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship classes and engage in practical and internship experiences.

The program is tailored for students interested in both business and the arts and provides theoretical and practical foundations for aspiring arts management professionals and cultural organization leaders.

As early as their first year on campus, students majoring in performing arts management will gain hands-on experience managing live performances and arts events, building their resumes and professional networks.

“A career in the arts can appear challenging and unpredictable. By adding a major in performing arts management, students are expanding the range of skills, experiences, and connections needed to thrive professionally and can enter the performing arts industry with confidence,” said Biliana Stoytcheva-Horissian, Ph.D., professor of theatre and chair of the department. “Lycoming’s interdisciplinary approach is unique and highly sought-after, offered on few campuses. Students interested in this career path should visit Lycoming and apply for admission early in order to leverage performing arts scholarship opportunities.”
