Second round of grants brings total invested for storm recovery to $2.8 million. The Greater Houston Disaster Alliance is investing $1,516,000 from its Severe Weather and Derecho Recovery Fund in grants to help low-income neighbors who are struggling to recover from severe weather that impacted the region in recent months. The fund’s second round of grants will support home repair services for those affected by the severe weather and derecho winds that occurred between April 26 and May 17, 2024.

The 4th Annual Freedom Fest, held this past Saturday, had vendors scattered from Simonton Street (and Heritage Place) east of Frazier/TX-75 to North Pacific Street, next to the railroad tracks, with additional attractions and booths along N. Main Street. The event was organized in partnership with several corporations such as Enercorp, Pro Directional, and Complete Home Remodeling. JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas – A forensic laboratory in The Woodlands helped solve a cold case from 2001 where an infant was found dead on the side of a road in North Texas. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said in Nov. 2001, the remains of an unidentified newborn were found on a road in between the cities of Alvarado and Burleson.
