WILLIAMS COUNTY, ND ( KXNET ) — A Williston man has been rushed to the hospital following an accident on the evening of Monday, July 8, and may soon be facing charges.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at about 5:05 p.m., a Can-Am Defender was traveling north on 147th Avenue Northwest (roughly two miles west of Trenton) when it rolled through a stop sign onto Highway 1804.

A Ford F-150 traveling east on the highway attempted to brake, but was unable to stop, causing it to strike the Can-Am in the front driver-side area. The Can-Am came to rest in the middle of the highway, and the Ford came to rest in the north ditch.

The driver of the Can-Am — a 70-year-old man from Williston — was transported to CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Williston, and later flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot for treatment of what are suspected to be serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the Ford were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation. Charges against the driver of the Defender are currently pending.
