Lightning Strike In Bolingbrook Fries Traffic Signal Box
A lightning strike in Bolingbrook has taken out the traffic lights along Weber Road just north of Boughton Road at the McDondald’s entrance or the west or Jewel on the east side. Lightning struck the cabinet that hold the electrical components for the traffic light. It may not be fixed until Friday, July 19th.
Cook County Donates Over 900 Clothing Items to Aid New Chicago Residents at New Life Center
In a move that speaks to the enduring spirit of community and resourcefulness in the face of closure, Cook County's Department of Facilities Management has made a significant contribution to the New Life Center. Almost 1,000 new articles of clothing, originally from the now-shuttered Oak Forest Campus Long-Term Care Facility, found a new purpose in supporting new arrivals through the "New Vecinos" team's efforts. This donation, detailed in a press release by Cook County, encompasses 866 pairs of shoes and 81 pairs of pants, set aside from the campus which is slated for partial demolition.

Three Wrigley rooftop buildings to be torn down after City Council approval
Three famous Wrigley rooftop buildings are set to be torn down after Chicago's City Council approved a rezoning plan for an area near the stadium on Wednesday. The three buildings stand along the 3600 block of North Sheffield Avenue, would be replaced with a 29-unit, five-story apartment complex with 11 parking spots behind the building.
