    Police Reports: Convenience stores burglarized in Wilmette, Highland Park; fleeing and eluding in Northfield

    These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

    WILMETTE

    May 30

    • Cartons of cigarettes reportedly were stolen at 3 a.m. from the BP gas station in the 900 block of Green Bay Road. Entry reportedly was gained by smashing the front door glass.

    May 29

    • A 22-year-old was arrested for reportedly discharging a firearm into the air multiple times around 11:51 p.m.

    • A man was arrested for allegedly stealing bottles of alcohol from CVS, 1515 Sheridan Road.

    • A water hydrant meter rig worth $3,500 reportedly was stolen from the 600 block of Lawler Avenue.

    May 28

    • An individual was arrested for reportedly stealing copper and other metals from a construction site at Edens Plaza, 3232 Lake Ave., in February.

    May 27

    • Six service train cars reportedly were spray painted with graffiti overnight at the Linden Avenue CTA station.

    WINNETKA

    No reported incidents that meet The Record’s standards for publication

    GLENCOE

    • A resident reportedly was scammed out of $65,000 after reportedly responding to an individual purporting to be the resident’s accountant and claiming a tax payment was not made.

    HIGHLAND PARK

    May 31

    • Cash, cases of liquor and 60 boxes of cigarettes reportedly were stolen from a store in a shopping center at 1855 Deerfield Road. Entry reportedly was gained by breaking the glass of the storefront.

    May 29

    • A scooter valued at nearly $100 reportedly was stolen from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.

    NORTHFIELD

    June 1

    • A motorist reportedly fled an attempted traffic stop at a high rate of speed at 2:15 a.m. on Willow Road near Bracken Lane. The Northfield officer did not pursue the vehicle “due to the extremely dangerous speed,” the police report says. The vehicle reportedly was stolen in the past week.

    KENILWORTH

    No reported incidents between May 24-31
