Not only is today a brand-new, still-wet-behind-the-ears week, it’s also a new month. A hot one that hopefully gets filled with picnics or barbecues, fireworks, hot dogs and watermelon and fresh peaches … your list may vary.

I just got back from four glorious days exploring the beaches, and I liked how active I can be when I have parks and nature trails and sun and sea to inspire me.

Miss Juneteenth Delaware 2024 crowned
Jakayla Wise was named the Miss Juneteenth Delaware winner during the 27th annual Miss Juneteenth Delaware pageant at the Baby Grand in Wilmington, Saturday, June 29, 2024.
The event included group and individual dance, spoken word and plenty of music, including renditions of “Respect’’ and “Strange Fruit.’’
William Bretzger was there to capture all of the excitement and highlights.

Aimed at connecting underserved audiences and shining light on those doing the hard work of improving their communities, we’d like to introduce you to Delaware Voices Uplifted.
Our Facebook Group is a gathering place for Delaware residents to share the good things happening in their neighborhoods, projects and efforts to bring about positive change. Led by Anitra Johnson, this new virtual space is meant to both inform and inspire you.
