Ursuline’s global cookbook is available for purchase in the U.S. and Australia.

A Wilmington Catholic school has been awarded an international grant after developing and releasing a book reflective of its dedication to global education.

Ursuline Academy ‘s Global Education Program was picked for the 2023-2024 Moulton Student Grant for Global Citizenship by the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS).

One golden goose of that program the Ursuline Global Cookbook, which features recipes contributed by Ursuline community members from 25 countries worldwide.

“We were thrilled to receive the Moulton Student Grant for Global Citizenship, which recognizes our commitment to empowering women and girls through education and community engagement,” said Erin Prada, director of strategic initiatives and global education at Ursuline.

The coalition’s annual grant recognizes one innovative project proposed by an ICGS member school or member
school team that advances opportunities for women and girls globally.

Ursuline Academy’s joint initiative with its sister school, St. Ursula’s College Kingsgrove in Sydney, Australia, has been
    acknowledged for its transformative impact.

“Watching the students, the educators, the women, and everyone involved connect and grow through this project has been incredible,” Prada said. “This project reinforces our mission of fostering global leadership, and its success is a testament to the power of collaboration across our truly unique global network.”

The collaborative project was developed in partnership with the Ursuline Sisters of the Asia Pacific, focused
on establishing a community kitchen at Mother of Peace Primary School in Battambang, Cambodia.

Ursuline’s initiative works directly with the village women to capitalize on their culinary skills to help them provide
nutritious meals for their families and generate their own economic opportunities, gain financial independence and strengthen community support networks.

The cookbook is available for sale ($50 for standard, $60 for exclusive version) in the United States and Australia, and all proceeds from  sales directly support the expansion of programming in Cambodia.

The grant was for $1,000 and through cookbook sales in the US and Australia, Ursuline has already been able to triple those funds.
