    3 Delaware high school standouts hear names called in MLB draft

    Three Delaware highs school standouts here their name called in MLB draft

    In the 2024 Major League Baseball draft three Delaware high school baseball standouts heard their name called. Eddie Micheletti Jr from Wilmington Friends, Aidan Deakins from Appoquinimink, and Luke Gabrysh of Concord High were all picked by major league teams.

    Micheletti played his high school baseball at Wilmington Friends School. He began his college career at George Washington University where he played three seasons from 2021-2023. transferred to Virginia Tech for his season where he again stood out as one of the top producers offensively for the Hokies. He played in 54 games and batted .311 with 55 hits, 11 doubles, 5 triples, 12 home runs, and 50 RBI’s.

    Micheletti was taken in the eighth round on the 247th pick by the Toronto Blue Jays.On BlueJaysNation.com they said “Micheletti may stick at catcher, but it’s more likely that he moves to one of the outfield spots.

    Aidan Deakins played at Appoquinimink High school. He then began his college career at Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Deakins appeared in 17 games achieving 7 wins and 2 losses. In 76 innings pitched he had 113 strikeouts with a WHIP of 1.38. Aidan had committed to play at the University of Troy next season, but that may have changed.

    He was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 2024 MLB draft in the 13th round with the 405th overall pick. The Rangers saw him pitch in the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League last year and really liked what they saw.

    Luke Gabrysh played his high school baseball at Concord High school. He played his college baseball at Saint Joseph’s University. Luke made 40 appearances for the Hawks and had 5 wins with 4 losses. His best season was this year as he posted a 6.10 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 20 walks in 20 games and posted a 3-3 record.

    Gabrysh was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 15th round with the 462nd overall pick .

    The Phillies were sold on Luke after he had a 1.42 ERA in the MLB draft league this summer, with 23 strikeouts and five walks.

    Congratulations to all the players from Delaware that were drafted in this year’s Major League Baseball draft. We are eager to follow their careers in the major leagues as they fulfill their dreams of one day making it to the big leagues.
