Swimming advisory issued in Oak Island after floodwaters pumped into ocean
OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Swimmer and surfers need to be aware of a precautionary swimming advisory that was issued for the ocean area in Oak Island. According to a news release, recent rains caused flooding of streets, yards and housing in parts of Oak Island and nearby communities. To minimize the flooding damage and to ensure roads are accessible for emergency vehicles, the town has pumped floodwater into the ocean near Crowell Street.
