    City of Refuge revival continues Friday night

    City of Refuge, located at 138 Walnut St. SW, will wrap up this week’s revival at 7 p.m. Friday, July 12. Worship service is 11 a.m. each Sunday. Power of Deliverance service is 7 p.m. Thursdays, and Men’s Prayer is first and third Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

    St. James plans food giveaway and Bible school

    St. James Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will have its community food giveaway at noon Saturday, July 13, and Saturday, July 27. First-come, first-served. The church is located at 1739 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

    Life in the Word has services Sunday

    Life in the Word will have worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 14, with speaker the Rev. George Atkinson. A pre-anniversary service for the pastor will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Curtis Artis with Anointed Word Ministries as guest speaker.

    Piney Groves plans Sunday services

    Piney Groves Free Will Baptist Church will have service at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 14, with Bishop Robert Smith as preacher. The Ladies Choir will sing. The church will celebrate first lady Evangelist Rybin Smith with an appreciation service at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 21. Pastor Barnita Bynum from True Fellowship Fountain will be guest preacher.

    Simon Grove plans special events

    Simon Grove Holiness Church will have a fun day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Youth should take their swimsuits. The church is also planning a 92nd church anniversary celebration with the theme “The Church That Prays Together, Stays Together” hosted by Pastor Terry Wilson and first lady Minister Trina Wilson. The pre-anniversary service is Sunday, July 14, with Wilson speaking at 10 a.m. and Bishop Willie Thomas of Brown Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church speaking at 4 p.m. Anniversary services are planned at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 21, with Pastor Terry Wilson and 10 a.m. Sunday, July 28, with Bishop Robert Daniels of Mount Zion Progressive Primitive Baptist Church. Simon Grove is located at 4334 N.C. 42.

    New Sandy Hill Bible school is July 17-19

    New Sandy Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 8021 New Sandy Hill Church Road, Bailey, will have vacation Bible school from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, to Friday, July 19. Bible school is for ages 4 to sixth grade. Teens are invited to participate in a community project. All children are asked to take a child-friendly food for donation to the Family Food Basket. Supper will be served at 6 each night. The theme is Scuba. Register on the church’s Facebook page or at the church from 5:30-6 each night.
