The Wilson Housing Authority will stop taking applications for its Varita Court Apartments on July 24.

Anyone wishing to turn in an application for the 24-unit, three-story apartment building for low-income residents age 62 and older must do so by the end of the day July 24.

The housing authority is closing the waiting list for this building, located on Goldsboro Street, because it has enough applicants already on its waiting list that any new applicants will have to wait at least six months to be housed.

All the units are rent subsidized with the amount of that subsidy depending on the income of the applicant.

To apply for a unit, pick up an application from the WHA administrative office at 301 Nash St. E., Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Completed applications can be dropped off at the same place.

A PDF of the application is also available at the housing authority’s website, but currently there is not a way to apply online. If you cannot get to the housing authority offices to drop it off, a completed application can be scanned and emailed to the housing authority at jcrouell@wilsonha.org .

If you need help getting an application or completing it, please contact James Crouell at 252-291-2245 ext. 230.

The Wilson Housing Authority follows all state and federal fair housing regulations and is committed to offering an equal opportunity for housing for all persons.
