Shelby County Chamber resumes D.C. visits
The Shelby County Chamber will resume its Washington, D.C. visits this fall after a five-year hiatus. The fly-ins organized by the chamber had been put on hold because of the pandemic and then stricter access controls implemented on Capitol Hill, said Kirk Mancer, president and CEO of the Shelby County Chamber. The last trip was in 2019.

Request for proposals (RFP) for lease of Mass Hangar T at the Shelby County Airport will be received in the office of the Chief Financial Officer, Shelby County Administration Building, 200 West College Street, Room 125 in Columbiana, Alabama 35051, until 2:00 p.m. on August 15, 2024 at which time RFP’s will be publicly opened and read. The Shelby County Commission reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive informalities in awarding this lease to the Proposer. Proposers are to state that the proposals submitted are firm and that no claims for errors will be made after proposals are opened and subsequent thereof. Jefferson County approves speed limit increase on Morgan Road
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — The speed limit on Morgan Road changed from 40 miles per hour to 55. The Jefferson County Commission voted Thursday morning in favor of the increase, which would run from Bessemer to Helena. County leaders said now that the road is no longer two lanes, the speed limit on the road should increase to reflect the changes.
