Some Wilsonville residents will notice new lighting along the streets near their home this summer.

The City Council approved a $458,000 construction contract for phase three of the LED Streetlight Conversion Project at a meeting Monday, May 6. The project seeks to replace old streetlights in Wilsonville with LED lighting, which is more energy-efficient and requires less maintenance, according to the website.

Wilsonville Public Works Operations Manager Martin Montalvo said the recently-approved contract for phase three involves upgrading the streetlights in residential neighborhoods throughout Wilsonville. The other component of phase three — which is not part of the contract and will be completed by Clackamas County — includes the replacement of intersection streetlights that are on the same poles as traffic lights.

An interactive map on the city website details which Wilsonville neighborhoods and intersections will feature new lighting, such as Daydream River Estates, Hazelwood and Old Town. A staff report said 335 residential streetlights will be replaced.

The phase three completion deadline is Aug. 30, 2024, according to the staff report.

Phase one of the project converted roadway lighting and phase two included residential lights. Montalvo said, after phase three of the project, almost 90% of the city’s streetlights will be upgraded, adding the fourth and final phase of the project will occur next summer and include the replacement of Villebois streetlights.
