Years of work will come to fruition this weekend at the grand opening for the Korean War Memorial Interpretive Center.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29 the center’s grand opening will be held at the Oregon Korean War Memorial in Town Center Park, following a commemoration honoring the 74th anniversary of the Korean War outbreak. Event speakers will include Consul General Eunji Seo of the Korean Consulate in Seattle along with state and federal representatives and Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald, according to a press release.

A special ceremony will also be held awarding 13 Korean War veterans or their family representatives the Korean Ambassador for Peace medal.

The center tells the stories of Korean War veterans, with video interviews, flipbooks, photos, artifacts and more. It resides in the Wilsonville Parks and Recreation building in Town Center Park.
