Hays County Brown Santa looking for elves
The Hays County Brown Santa program has started its annual drive for money, food, and toys to assist families in need in Hays County. The program consists of volunteers from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and members of the community. Brown Santa seeks donations from citizens and local businesses for toys, canned goods, and money. Last year, over 650 families were given assistance in food and/or toys throughout Hays County. Music Studio welcomes babies to the Suzuki method

The classes are based on the teachings and philosophies of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, known worldwide as the originator of the Suzuki Method. The Wimberley High School Texans (9-0) went to Austin to take on the Austin Achieve Polar Bears (2-7) Friday night. Woodcreek celebrates Arbor Day as Tree City USA
The city of Woodcreek celebrated Arbor Day last week as part of their mission as a designated Tree City USA. While the public, volunteers and members of the City Council’s Tree Board looked on, a Desert Willow was officially dedicated by Mayor Jeff Rasco. The ceremony took place near Woodcreek’s newly completed gazebo in Triangle Park, at the junction of Brookhollow and Woodcreek Drives. The hundred-gallon Willow was a generous gift from Wimberley Gardens. Tree Board members, chaired by Iris Ramos, posed with shovels to signify the planting once watering is once again approved in Woodcreek. Following the dedication, Texas A&M’s Woodland Ecologist and tree expert Karl Flocke led a tour through Woodcreek to educate visitors and to discuss Oak Wilt threats to the area. Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists and representatives from the Texas Native Plant Society were on hand, along with other vendors, to share information about the role trees play in our central Texas lives. Saplings and other items were part of a raffle, and guests enjoyed refreshments and activities for kids.
New Event Center for Double J Ranch Golf Club
Demolition is nearly complete on the old clubhouse at the Woodcreek golf course to make way for a new event center. Purchased in April by Joe and Jennifer Gambino of Phoenix, the course is now called the Double J Ranch Golf Club. It was previously named Quicksand at Woodcreek Golf Club, although ownership had changed multiple times since it was built in 1973. With the holidays now on the horizon, police are urging people to be on their guard for the type of attempted theft that occurred in Hays County on Oct. 26. According to the Kyle Police Department in a press release, at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, Kyle Police officers responded to a report from a person who suspected they were being followed by unknown individuals after leaving a local bank. There were events across town all of Halloween weekend and into last week celebrating with children and adults alike donning the best costumes around. Many local organizations participated in Boo! Hays County Commissioners Court honored veterans by adopting a proclamation in support of Operation Greenlight. The Wimberley Texan football team clinched their third consecutive district championship with a 34-22 victory over the Lago Vista Vikings. Historic $345 million approved for local, state infrastructure
