It’s every high school athlete’s ambition to get an offer from a Division 1 school.

At George Rogers Clark High School, one athlete just made that dream come true.

Keenan Ogle, an incoming junior offensive lineman for the Cards’ football team, recently received his first Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) offer from Marshall University of Huntington, West Virginia.

“It was a great feeling,” said Ogle. “A few days after, I still think about it.”

Ogle played both right and left offensive tackle last season.

While each position requires much skill, left is often considered one of the most critical as it is charged with protecting a right-handed quarterback’s blindside.

For this upcoming season, Ogle anticipates moving to the guard position, situated between the left tackle and center.

“I like being inside the gaps,” he said.

As a guard, Ogle will likely engage in a pull play throughout the season, in which he will move from his usual spot in order to pick up another blocking assignment on the opposite side of the field.

Such run plays, when executed efficiently, allow running backs to gain multiple yards on a carry.

“I like building up speed,” he said.

Ogle, a Clark County native who also attended Robert D. Campbell Junior High School and is in his third year on the George Rogers Clark High School roster, spoke highly of the program.

“They bring everyone together as family,” he said.

Having played approximately five to six years, he also spoke of his joy for the sport.

“I enjoy working out with the [teammates], and just being part of the team,” he said.

Between the end of last season and the beginning of this season, which begins August 16 at Corbin, Ogle has continued staying busy.

He has attended camps at places such as Eastern Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, West Virginia University, and Middle Tennessee State University, with hopes of additional offers in the future.
