3 Northern New England Cities Rank Top 10 Least-Stressed in the US
Stress. We all have it, but the past few years have really ramped it up. From a pandemic to inflation, natural disasters, and crime rates, it's been a wild ride. But there's some good news to come out of our corner of the country. Two of our local gems, Nashua, New Hampshire, and Portland, Maine, are living the good life, and just ranked in the top 10 least-stressed cities in the US.

Couple seek decision on possible second dwelling unit on property
TEWKSBURY — The Tewksbury Zoning Board of Appeals met on June 27, 2024 with members Nancy Rego, Daniel Teixeira, and Robert Dugan. The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews and approves applications for variances from the town’s zoning bylaw under Chapter 40A of the Massachusetts General Laws. The board also hears appeals related to decisions on permits and enforcement action made by the town building department.
Planning Board Addresses Signage Regulations & Menu Board Proposals
The Planning Board met last night with all members present. There were no committee reports. In her Town Planner’s report, Community/Economic Development Planner Alexandra Lowder advised the board that the 792 Main Street applicant for Site Plan Review, Land Disturbance Permit, and Sign Special Permit has requested continuance to the next Planning Board Meeting, August 19th. Jonathan Ciampa will not be present for the August 19th meeting as he will be visiting his new grandson. Congratulations Jon!
Gas Restoration Contract Areas 3-4-5 Construction Update: Woodbridge Road
Starting next week July 22, 2024, the Town’s contractor PJ Albert will be starting with the gas restoration activities on Woodbridge Road in the Contract 3-4-5 areas. Work will include the reclamation of the roadway surface, regrading of the roadway subgrade, adjustment of the castings, and installation of asphalt binder.

State officials close Lawrence city pool due to lifeguard shortage
LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) - A city swimming pool in Lawrence will close indefinitely Saturday due to a lifeguard shortage, state officials said. The Lt. Colonel Edward J. Higgins Swimming Pool will be shuttered by the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation. However, DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo said that the department will work with Lawrence to provide “recreational opportunities” for the community.
Hoping to Save Haverhill’s Urban Trees, Volunteer Set to Speak at Tuesday Council
