Iowa weather: Cooler days ahead in Des Moines forecast
DES MOINES, Iowa — Afterthe very strong storms yesterday, we are cooling and calming down. After surveying the damage, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in the Des Moines metro. It formed in Urbandale and traveled about seven miles before lifting near Des Moines Water Works. Wind speeds were estimated at 105 mph.

John Deere announces workforce reduction impacting salaried workers
IOWA (KWWL) -- John Deere is planning to cut some salaried employees from its workforce beginning next week, according to an email sent to workers. In the email KWWL obtained, the company says that an employee meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 a.m. A new round of workforce reductions is expected.

Thanks to a recent article from the Iowa City Press Citizen, we learned that an Iowa baker by the name of Eileen Gannon is set to compete on Blue Ribbon Baking Championship! The series will debut just in time for the Iowa State Fair.
Crawford County Memorial Hospital Contributed Over $60 Million To State’s Economy
A study conducted by the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) found that Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison has contributed over $60 million to Iowa’s economy in 2023. Iowa hospitals throughout the state invested $21.3 billion, and Crawford County Memorial Hospital made up $63.7 million. Over $30 million stayed in the local community as wages and benefits from employment, $34.4 million to be more precise. The hospital supported 559.2 job opportunities, which makes up 8.5% of all individuals employed throughout Crawford County, are at the hospital. Crawford County Memorial Hospital is also a huge supporter of Denison and surrounding communities, with $2.6 million allocated for charity care to provide necessary health services to individuals who cannot afford it, serving 4.4 thousand individuals through this program. Chargers Head Softball Coach on Season
With the 2024 season over, AC/GC Chargers Head Softball Coach Eric Van Meter looks back on the team’s season. Van Meter mentions that he’s proud of what the Chargers did this last season, as there was only one team he thought they didn’t play well against. The team ended the season with a 13-13 record on an 11-0 loss to the Van Meter Bulldogs.
