Fort Kent Police Arrest Suspect in UMFK Vehicle and Equipment Theft
FORT KENT, Maine (WAGM) - The Fort Kent Police Department has made an arrest in a case involving vehicle and equipment thefts from the University of Maine in Fort Kent. On the morning of July 1, 2024, the Fort Kent Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle theft from the University of Maine in Fort Kent parking lot. This theft occurred in the early morning hours of June 30. Additionally, a large amount of forestry equipment, including 10 chainsaws and various handheld saws and tools, was stolen from a work shed on the UMFK campus. Throughout the day, reports of an individual acting suspiciously at homes in the Fort Kent area were received. Following an investigation, 20-year-old Preston Soucy was arrested. The vehicle and tools have been recovered.
