El Centro City Council approves funds for Police Department Building Construction
EL CENTRO— Council members approved additional funding for the construction of the El Centro Police Department building Tuesday night, July 2, at City Hall. The 5-0 vote allowed for a contract revision with Arrington Watkins Architects, Inc. for an additional $251,053 for the police station project. The recalculated total contract cost is $2,792,213.

DPS remembers fallen Trooper Sgt. Michael Crowe
DPS is remembering fallen Trooper, 41-year-old Sgt. Michael Crowe who was shot to death on this day in 1995, along with Yuma Police Department Lt. Dan Elkins, after they arrived at the Southwest Border Alliance headquarters building near the Yuma International Airport. As they entered the building, they were both shot by the suspect. Yuma County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jack Hudson was arrested for double murder. He was a fellow member of the same narcotics task force. He was sentenced to life in prison.
