19th Annual Secchi Day lands on loyal volunteer’s 90th birthday
ROGERS, Ark. — The 19th annual Secchi Day is being held at Beaver Lake on Saturday, Aug. 17, and this year, a loyal volunteer will also celebrate a big day. Secchi Day is an event where Beaver Water District staff analyzes water data using a Secchi disk to produce a report. A Secchi Disk is a black and white disc that is lowered into the water to measure water clarity. Volunteers bring their boats to Beaver Lake and collect samples to take Secchi readings.
