Arkansas left-handed pitcher Stone Hewlett signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday after going undrafted in the 2024 MLB Draft. Hewlett appeared 23 times out of the bullpen for the Razorbacks as a senior after spending his first three years with the Kansas Jayhawks. The Leawood (Kan.) native posted a 1-0 record with an ERA of 3.46 across 13 innings of work while allowing six hits and eight walks with 23 strikeouts. He was a lefty-lefty specialist who held opposing hitters to a .136 batting average while picking up four saves.

National Weather Service recaps Wednesdy morning floods
Wednesday’s rainfall led to records broken and various portions of the Twin Lakes Area flooded. At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, 2.97 inches of rain were recorded at 7 Wednesday morning from the previous 24-hour period. That shattered the previous mark of 1.2 inches in 1964. Since 7, an additional .52 of an inch of rain have been measured with a small possibility of more coming. For the month, the total precipitation so far is 8.61 inches, making it the third wettest July on record.

UPDATED: Arkadelphia city board gives Good Ole Boys nod to rezone planned subdivision
In an extremely brief meeting Tuesday evening, the Arkadelphia Board of Directors approved a new residential area for the city. City Manager Gary Brinkley said the Planning and Zoning Committee had, on Monday, approved the addition of 31.72 acres off of W.P. Malone Drive north of Arkadelphia High School. Known as South Ridge Crossing, the residential area will be zoned R-1 for housing.
