One dead after fatal collision in McCormick County

MCCORMICK COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – South Carolina Highway Patrol has confirmed that one person has died following a fatal collision in McCormick County this week.

According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, the crash took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Resort Drive, which is about five miles west of McCormick.

The report states that the driver, in a 1997 Ford pickup truck, was traveling south on Resort Drive before veering to the right side of the road down an embankment and striking a tree.

No further details on the crash are available at this time. The collision is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
