    Elizabethton City Schools to receive a $3.75 million athletic training facility

    ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – Elizabethton City Schools is gaining a cutting-edge athletic training facility worth $3.75 million, according to a release from Elizabethton City Schools (ECS).

    The new 18,000-square-foot field house will feature the following, provided by the release:

    • New weight room
    • Practice gymnasium
    • 8,100 square feet of artificial turf

    The funds for the field house come from the school system and the City of Elizabethton funds, as well as a $400,000 donation from Citizens Bank Tri-Cities Foundation Ltd.

    Boone and Crockett stadium construction on track for football season

    Citizens Bank Tri-Cities said the donation is in memory of Dave Rider, a beloved community member who made a positive impact. Rider will serve as the namesake for the new field house.

    The Dave Rider Center for Athletic Performance will be located at Elizabethton High School (EHS).

    There will be a ceremony to celebrate the field house on Thursday at 10 a.m. at EHS.
