Johnson City, TN — When the ETSU Buccaneers take the field on Saturday against Appalachian State in the first game of the season there will be at least one guy who knows the Mountaineers better than anybody.
True 22 players on this team that transferred in from Gardner to Webb faced off against Appalachian State last year, but only one has seen them since he was a child and knows several members on the team.

“Grown up watching them. They’re just they’re a tough team. You know, they’re going to play hard. They’re going to be disciplined and they’re going to do stuff the right way. They’re not gonna beat themselves. So, you know, we’re going have to go up there. We’re going to execute the stuff we’re supposed to do, and we’re going to have to try and limit our own errors. So we’re going have to go out there and beat them to go up there and take it from. And I think that’s something that we’re prepared for. Prepared to do, capable of doing. And, you know, I know all of us are really excited about the opportunity to go up there and play, says West.”

West played in all 11 games for ETSU in 2023 and totaled 43 tackles, recovered two fumbles along with one sack and one interception.
