    ETSU Department of Theatre and Dance announces 2024-25 season

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Department of Theatre and Dance at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) has announced its 2024-25 season of performances.

    The university described the slate of performances as a list of classics and innovative works. Music is a focal point of the season, with works including “Cabaret”, “The Tempest” with assistance from ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old-Time and Roots Music Studies, and a musical review of Stephen Sondheim’s work.

    All performances take place at the Martin Center for the Arts on West State of Franklin Road in Johnson City.

    • Oct. 24-27: “The Moors,” written by Jen Silverman at the Martin Center’s Bert C. Bach Theatre.
    • Nov. 20-24: “Cabaret,” based on the book by Joe Masteroff at the Bach Theatre.
    • March 6-9: “The Wolves,” written by Sarah DeLappe at the Bach Theatre.
    • April 10-13: “The Tempest,” written by William Shakespeare at the Bach Theatre. This performance features collaboration with Bluegrass, Old-Time and Roots Music Studies in the Department of Appalachian Studies.
    • April 23: “Sondheim Musical Revue” at in the ETSU Foundation Grand Hall at the Martin Center. This is a collaboration with the Department of Music at ETSU.

    “We invite the campus and surrounding region to join us for these exciting and diverse productions,” said Karen Brewster, chair of the department.

    “We hope to challenge and entertain audiences with this unique combination of new plays, musical standards and classical theater. We are very excited to collaborate with our good friends in the Department of Music and Department of Appalachian Studies.”
