JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) -The Southside Neighborhood Organization held its 34th annual community yard sale in the “Tree Streets” on Saturday. The sale featured live music, local artists and homemade food offerings.

The 35-block neighborhood became a “lively marketplace” on Saturday as thousands of collectors, buyers and sellers attended the sale. The Tree Streets Yard Sale’s proceeds benefit local projects and initiatives.

News Channel 11 spoke with Beth Arwood, who has been attending the yard sale since she was in middle school over 20 years ago.

“I like yard sales,” said Arwood. “It’s just a good pastime that I had with my mom when I was growing up. My mom and my sister loved yard sales. But now, this year, we’re doing one for one of my best friends’ birthday. That’s what she wanted to do. It’s the only thing she wanted.”

Arwood encourages those who did not attend this year to consider going next year.

“It is never too late to start,” she said. “Come next year, start next year. It could be a tradition for you and your friends or you and your family. You never know what you’re going to find.”
