JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – AT&T workers were on strike for another day in Mississippi.

The workers are part of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Union, and they’re striking across the Southeast over contract negotiations with AT&T.

“We really just want the company to come together with the union and, you know, have fair negotiations because it seems like so far, they haven’t really been sending people to the table who are authorized to make decisions on AT&T’s behalf,” said Dillon Brownlee, a CWA Union member.

The workers walked off the job after they said AT&T set representatives with no real authority to make changes and cut a deal. In doing so, workers said the company sent a clear message, and the strike is how they’re responding.

“We just want AT&T to bargain in good faith. In other words, at the table, not string us along. We want to make sure that we actually are talking in a serious manner and actually trying to work to actually get to an agreement,” said Jermaine Travis, a local CWA Union president.

    AT&T denied the union’s accusations.

“CWA’s claims of unfair labor practices are not grounded in fact. We have been engaged in substantive bargaining since Day One and are eager to reach an agreement that benefits our hard-working employees,” the company said in emailed statement to the Associated Press.

Union representatives said they’re willing to strike as long as necessary until AT&T sends people with proper bargaining authority.
