    New Mississippi National Guard adjutant general assumes command

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A new adjutant general assumed command of the Mississippi National Guard (MSNG) on Friday, September 6.

    In a formal passing of the flag at the Mississippi State Capitol, Bobby Ginn, Jr., became the new adjutant general of Mississippi. He was selected by Governor Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) after Major General Janson D. Boyles announced his retirement.

    Ginn will be responsible for providing Mississippi and the nation a ready force of more than 12,500 national guard soldiers and airmen.

    “The road behind me has paved the way for the tasks ahead of me. The blueprint for the future of this organization starts with recognizing and honoring the past eagerly undertake the task of building on the foundation previously laid by the former 52 adjutant generals,” said Ginn.

    Ginn began his military career in 1990 as an enlisted Soldier. In 1993, he was commissioned through the Mississippi National Guard’s Officer Candidate School and became a Supply Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 114th Area Support Group.

    In 1994, he was assigned as a platoon leader, and in 1999, assumed command of the 367th Maintenance Company. Since then, he has had many assignments, including commander at Camp Shelby and most recently, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.

    Ginn earned a B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi and Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
