CLEVELAND (WJW) — A woman who police said abducted her 3-year-old daughter from a Rocky River home in March pleaded guilty last week to charges related to the incident and was sentenced Monday to probation.

Cathleen M. Collins, 41, of Cleveland, was accused of abducting the girl from a Riverwood Avenue home on March 4, prompting an Ohio Amber Alert .

Authorities found Collins and the child in Strongsville less than two hours later.

Collins was indicted in April, but not on abduction charges — instead, felony charges of trespassing in a home and vandalism. The vandalism charges are related to an incident that happened between February and March, according to the indictment.

She pleaded guilty to amended charges, including one misdemeanor count of aggravated trespass and one felony count of criminal damaging, court records show. Her other vandalism charge was dismissed.

A judge on Monday sentenced Collins to one year of probation on the trespassing charge. She’ll be required to check in every six months, and also complete 20 hours of community service. If she violates probation, she could end up spending six months in jail.

The FOX 8 I-Team learned Collins worked as an intervention specialist for North Olmsted City Schools.

Collins was placed on paid leave while the case was being investigated, a district spokesperson told FOX 8 News in March. She resigned later that month, the spokesperson said on Monday.
