    Elyria Police Department investigating shooting that injured 16-year-old

    ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) — The Elyria Police Department is asking the public for information after a 16-year-old was shot Wednesday night.

    Elyria Police officers were called to the 1100 block of Middle Avenue just before 9 p.m. Wednesday on reports of shots fired, according to a post from the Elyria Police Department .

    1-year-old dies in Cleveland house fire, woman injured

    A woman called police to report that a man had fallen in her front yard in the 300 block of 12th St. and then ran from the area, according to the post. When officers arrived they did not find any victims or suspects.

    While the officers were on the scene, it was reported that a 16-year-old had shown up at the University Hospital Elyria emergency room with a gunshot wound. The victim was said to be in stable condition, according to police.

    Officers and detectives interviewed the victim at the hospital. They are now asking anyone with information to call 440-326-1205 or email tloesch@cityofelyria.org.

    The shooting remains under investigation.
