    Local man reveals the strategy behind his lottery win

    GRAFTON, Ohio (WJW) – A Lorain County man is celebrating a chunk of change coming his way after the Ohio Lottery said he matched four out of the five numbers correctly in a recent Lucky for Life drawing.

    According to a press release , David Taylor of Grafton won $5,004 in the Aug. 24 drawing. He purchased the winning ticket at Riverside Beverage and Deli in Elyria.

    “I was shocked to see I hit the first four numbers and then I had the bonus one and I’m like ‘Wow how much does this pay,'” said Taylor.

    He told Ohio Lottery officials he started playing Luck for Life because “it’s a lot more small winners.”

    He used auto-pick to select his numbers.

    According to the Ohio Lottery, Lucky for Life is a $2 draw game with a top prize of $1,000 a day for life, and a second prize of $25,000 a year for life. The odds of winning the top prize are about 1 in 30 million. Much better than the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot which is just 1 in about 300 million.

    As for the smaller wins, the odds of taking home $200 after playing Lucky for Life are 1 in 8,433 while the odds of taking home $200 after playing the Mega Millions are 1 in 1 in 14,547.
