    Semi, dump truck collide; 2 local drivers hurt

    MILAN TOWNSHIP , Ohio (WJW) — Two motorists were seriously hurt when a commercial semi and dump truck collided on Friday afternoon in Erie County .

    It happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Mason and Hoover roads in the township, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol .

    A 57-year-old Parma man driving a Mack truck south on Hoover Road failed to yield at the stop sign. The semi was hit by a Volvo dump truck being driven by a 26-year-old Berlin Heights man, which was traveling east on Mason Road, according to the release.

    Both vehicles went off the road at the southeast corner of the intersection. The semi hit a tree. The dump truck overturned and hit a utility pole.

    The semi driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered “serious incapacitating injuries,” according to the release.

    The driver of the dump truck suffered “serious injuries” and had to be extracted from the vehicle by first responders, according to the release. He was not wearing a seat belt.

    The crash remains under investigation.
