CLEVELAND (WJW) — It was 30 years ago, on Sept. 6, 1994, that anchor Tracy McCool joined the FOX 8 family.

FOX 8 anchors celebrated with a montage of McCool’s career working on the producer’s desk then later behind the anchor desk, surprising her with flowers, cake and balloons.

“When I first started, I did my internship here. I graduated, I got an [associate producer] position,” she said. “I was working the night show, running the prompter for Wilma Smith and Tim Taylor. … Before I knew it, I was producing.”

McCool said she then went to the Erie, Pennsylvania, market for three years, then to Columbus. She came back to Cleveland to start reporting.

Rachael Ray fans worried: ‘What happened to you?’

“It’s just been such a blessing to work with so many amazing people, amazing bosses, and I can’t believe it’s been 30 years. Thanks for keeping track, guys,” she said. “We’ve all been through a lot.”
