Affordable housing discussed during economic event in Sharon

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Businesses in the Shenango Valley got together for their second Economic Update Breakfast on Thursday morning.

It happened at the Corinthian Banquet Hall in downtown Sharon.

Local business leaders talked about how the Shenango Valley economy compares to national averages. They also heard from keynote speaker Dr. Russell Mills from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

One economic factor that was focused on was housing in the area.

“Affordable housing and the number of homes that affects us in the area, not only in Mercer County but in Trumbull and Mahoning counties, and that is a difficult task that we need to look at for sure,” said Jim Bombeck, executive director of the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce has a professional development meeting coming up in March.
