Dollar General brings produce option to Valley town

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – Dollar General shoppers in Salem will now be able to buy fresh produce at one of its stores.

The location at 1000 W. State Street now offers produce as well as other groceries.

The produce set up at the story will generally carry 20 items typically sold in traditional grocery stores such as tomatoes onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes and more.

The State Street location will continue to offer frozen and refrigerated foods in addition to other grocery items.

According to the company, Dollar General offers fresh fruits and vegetables in more than 5,400 stores in the U.S. with a “meaningful” number in current USDA-defined food deserts.
