    Board approves tuition, meal plan increase at Kent State

    KENT, Ohio (WKBN) – Tuition and room and board at Kent State University is going up for incoming freshmen this year.

    Auditor: Local township’s former fiscal officers mishandled finances

    Tuition is going up 3% to $6,526.80 per semester, an increase of $190.10. The double room rate is up 1.51% at $4,030, an increase of $60 per semester. And the Blue dining plan is increasing 5.4% to $2,690, an increase of $140.

    The new costs will be frozen for four years for the 2024 incoming class.

    While those cost increases are governed under the Tuition Guarantee Model, other increases are being implemented that do not fall under that guideline. For instance, out-of-state students surcharge increased by 4% and graduate students will pay also pay 4% more. The impact of these increases is $22.90 per credit hour for graduate tuition and $19.80 per credit in the non-Ohio resident surcharge.
