YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police have arrested a 14-year-old in connection with the Sunday evening shooting of a 12-year-old.

Chief of Detectives Capt. Jason Simon said the suspect was trying to rob the victim of his shoes and ended up shooting him.

The victim is being treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center and is in stable condition, Simon said.

He was wounded about 9 p.m. Police were called to the intersection of Cambridge Avenue and Gibson Street for a gunshot sensor call and at about the same time they were also called to a home in the 700 block of East Lucius Avenue for a gunshot victim.

The victim was found on East Lucuis Avenue and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The suspect was booked into the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.
