Canfield police and firefighters responded around noon to the area of Herbert Road near state Route 46.

According to the Highway Patrol, a 1999 Mack cement truck, operated by Michael Hrusovsky, 23, of Newton Falls, was southbound on Route 46 approaching the intersection of Herbert Road.

A 2000 Ford F-650 dump truck and trailer, operated by David Lewis, 59, with passenger, John Lewis, 18, of North Jackson, was eastbound on Herbert Road slowing at the red light at the intersection of Route 46.

The cement truck attempted to make a right turn onto Herbert Road, and while making the turn, rolled over onto its left side and struck the Ford F-650, according to the Highway Patrol. The cement truck was hauling approximately 26,000 pounds of concrete at the time of the crash.

According to first responders, the driver of the cement truck was stuck inside and it took a half hour to remove him.

He was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center, while the dump truck driver was sent to the hospital by ambulance with possible injuries.

HAZMAT was called to the scene due to a hydraulic fluid spill.

Michael Reiner and Chelsea Simeon contributed to this report.
