Boardman Police Department responded to the Target store on Boardman Poland Road Aug. 30 after a loss prevention employee reported that four suspects defrauded the store out of money and committed thefts over dates spanning July through August.

Reports state in some cases, the suspects would bring various items to the self-checkout and place a tag on the item for a lower price than it was valued at, defrauding the store hundreds of dollars combined. One example provided in reports is that one of the suspects selected a Stanley Cup valued at $35 and placed a $2 tag on the item, defrauding the store of $33.

In other instances, reports state the suspects simply didn’t scan any of their selected items and left without paying.

All four suspects were identified by store employees and warrants were issued for their arrest on varying misdemeanor theft charges.

This week, three of the four suspects have turned themselves in on the warrants.
