FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A 17-year-old from Fort Walton Beach is accused in the death of a 16-year-old.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the 17-year-old is facing homicide-aggravated manslaughter of a child after allegedly providing narcotics that led to the death of the 16-year-old.

OCSO deputies arrested the 17-year-old on Friday night.

The 16-year-old was found dead in her bedroom at her home in Fort Walton Beach on Feb. 11. Investigators determined the pills found in her bedroom were fentanyl. The autopsy also showed her cause of death was fentanyl intoxication. Fentanyl and Norfentanyl were found in the victim’s blood, according to investigators.

The investigation also revealed the 16-year-old victim met with the 17-year-old at a public spot to buy the pills. OCSO investigators said they saw the hand-to-hand transaction on surveillance cameras.

“Investigators located [the 17-year-old suspect] for an interview,” an OCSO news release said. “He denied knowing the victim; however, his phone and the video footage showed otherwise.”
