Editor’s Note: The Florida Highway Patrol has changed its narrative for this crash. WKRG revised this article to exclude the original FHP report.

UPDATE (1:31 p.m., Aug. 19): The Florida Highway Patrol has changed its report on a crash that left a 7-year-old child dead on Friday.

According to the FHP, the crash occurred around 4:59 p.m. on Aug. 16 between a pickup truck and an SUV.

In the revised narrative, the FHP said that the pickup was traveling south on Sandy Forest Road approaching Bryant Bridge Road and the SUV was travelling west on Bryant Bridge Road approaching Sandy Forest Road.

FHP said that the pickup driver failed to stop at the stop sign for the southbound travel of Sandy Forest Road. According to crash reports, this resulted in the pickup colliding with the right side of the SUV on Bryant Bridge Road.

After the collision, the FHP said the pickup “rotated in a counter clockwise direction before coming to final rest on the southwest shoulder of the intersection” and the SUV “rotated in counterclockwise direction before overturning onto its left side, coming to final rest west of the intersection on the south side of the road.”

UPDATE (12:40 p.m.): The Florida Highway Patrol has provided a statement regarding information the FHP released to the media about a Friday crash that turned deadly.

“Please be aware that as this crash information is under review, changes are possibly coming,” the statement said. “Keep in mind we rely on the troopers original information when he or she provides it to me for press release during initial investigation. ALL information will always be subject to change based on continued investigation.

“We have been working on this internally since early this morning. We have a Traffic Homicide Investigator responding to the scene as we speak and will report back with his initial finding and I will update you as soon as possible.

“Thank you for your continued support and patience!”
